The Kiddy Planet School was founded by Nissrin Makarem Anguilet in Libreville, Gabon, West Africa, in 2018. Starting as a small preschool, it was based on her desire to “create a nurturing environment where children could learn through exploration, independence, and respect for their natural development.”
As her enrollment grew, Kiddy Planet incorporated both English and French language to serve the diverse cultural community of parents in the local area. Nissrin says that Montessori’s scientific education has played a central role in the school’s growth, which has now become well-known and trusted by parents in the whole Libreville community.
In 2020, Kiddy Planet became recognized with IMS, which has stimulated a close alignment with IMS technology as elaborated in IMS publications, including the 400-page book by Lee Havis, entitled “The Technology of Scientific Education”. The school has also recently expanded to become authorized to provide IB (International Baccalaureate) Primary Years Program (PYP) to provide new opportunities for further inquiry-based learning and global awareness among the older children at the school.Â
Nissrin has recently express interest in helping to organize an IMS workshop for educators in West Africa, to expand learning of the technology among her own staff and parents, as well as the wider field of interest among parents and teachers in the whole West African region.
