Practical Application

These persons have learned the IMS technology from their participation in IMS teacher education. They report here their experience using this technology with children..

Sally Korte (IMS ’15)
I am a certified graduate of IMS Montessori teacher education.. The technology set of protocols and safe words has been a tremendous gift in my practice… Today, when I enter my classroom every morning, I become very conscious of this technology that makes it so easy to observe the true child at work. Many people who come to observe me using this technology are very impressed by what they see. They say, “You are amazing”, but it is not me, but the technology that helps me to control my personality. ..The IMS technology brings the peace in me.

Cheryl McGowen (IMS ’16)
I took the IMS course because I was having problems with implementing lessons and dealing with disruptive behavior in the environment…I have noticed a change in myself and the classroom since I have been using the technology from the course. I am able to observe the environment and use the tools I have learned when needed, such as approaching a child for a lesson when he is interested and handling situations where there may be chaos in the room. The techniques, protocols and safe words are easy to apply and I love that their focus is on the child and the work not so much the adult. It works! The children flourish in the classroom and have such independence as they work on their projects. I am much more confident implementing lessons now.

Patricia Brophy, IMS Student, 2015-present
In my Montessori home school, I have accomplished much inner preparing in becoming skillful as a Montessori Directress…. Using the IMS techniques and protocols have empowered me to be able to control ingrained reactivity as misbehavior scenarios arise amongst children and myself… As I consistently practice the IMS technology, I am experiencing less reactivity and more calm during the times I spend interacting with children. I find myself inwardly calming down as I ‘step back from power struggles’, do a lot of patient waiting and imagination/previsioning (IP), and mostly, observing.

Donna Curtis (IMS ’02)
You can use my anytime as a personal testimony to the success of the IMS technology taught in the workshops: techniques, protcools, presentations, and safe words…I have first-hand observation of this success. I began my class this year and it was running so smoothly with this technology.
