In February, 2025, the Character Teaching (CT) project in South Sudan was initiated with the appointment of Christophe Morgan as member of that countryās CT consultation board. Following his appointment, a letter was sent out by IMS to the Minister of General Education and Instruction of that country, Dr. Abol Kuyok, requesting his approval and cooperation for the projectās operation there. Chris indicated that he has already personally shared the project with Dr. Kuyok, and let him know a letter from IMS would soon arrive for his consideration.
As CT board member, Chris will be responsible to support the projectās operation in South Sudan, such as by providing advice and cooperation in the acquisition of suitable facilities, and the supervision and management of personnel for the project there. Chris’s educational background is substantial in the ļ¬eld of education, including a masterās degree in educational leadership in 1999 from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom.
Since 2003, Chris has been active in his professional ļ¬eld of educational leadership with UNICEF in various parts of Africa. Most recently, he has been employed by UNICEF in South Sudan, focusing especially on teacher education. Chris and his wife are also now operating a new school, the Diā
vine Eagles International Montessori School which is located in his home city of Juba.
Lee Havis, IMS director, sees the appointment of Chris in South Sudan as a very positive step forward for its successful operation there, especially since it will coordinate with other CT projects in the neighboring countries of Uganda and Kenya. Lee says, āThe CT project functions best through teamwork with others, since it is so bold and innovative in its purpose to overcome poverty by practicing scientiļ¬c teaching with children caught up in very diļ¬icult circumstances.”
