First IMS Certified Teacher in Nigeria

On January 12, 2022, Evelyn Onyekonwu (IMS ’22) received her certificate and credential for completing the IMS distance learning course.  She began this course in October, 2019, which was made possible by a generous tuition scholarship from Donna Curtis (IMS ’02) and parents of her unique “Mustard Seed” learning program in Petaluma, CA.

Even before she completed the course, Evelyn was conducting workshops and sharing her knowledge about IMS technology and scientific education with other educators in Nigeria.  In fact, she even began building a new school in her area of Nigeria as well.  In this effort, Donna Curtis and her Mustard Seed parents are providing further financial support as well.

Lee Havis, IMS director and evaluator in Evelyn’s course, expressed his hope that Evelyn’s work and school will unfold and grow strong as a beacon for the “new education” in her country.  He noted a good beginning to this, due to Evelyn’s determination and faith to complete this course, which was made so challenging due to the global pandemic that made school visits and international communication so very difficult.
