Hotel Accommodations
Non-local attendees may book sleeping rooms at the Airport View Hotel. For hotel guests, room reservation includes a free hot breakfast. For all participants, the workshop includes a light lunch on both days.
Transportation
Airport View Hotel is located near Accra International Airport. Participants staying at Airport View Hotel will not require daily transportation between their hotel and the workshop venue, as the workshop will be conducted at the same hotel.
Participants are responsible for arranging transportation, for non-guests at the Hotel, from the Accra International Airport to their hotel and from the hotel to the airport after the workshop; and, for all participants, for personal journeys within Accra. Taxis and app-based transportation services are readily available in Accra.

Weather and Local Time
November in Accra is generally warm and humid, with periods of sunshine and occasional rainfall.
Typical November temperatures range from approximately 25°C to 30°C, with average relative humidity of approximately 79%. Participants are advised to bring light clothing suitable for warm weather and a light rain jacket or umbrella.
Ghana observes Greenwich Mean Time (GMT/UTC+0) throughout the year and does not observe daylight saving time.
Passports and Visas
Nationals of ECOWAS Member States do not require a visa to enter Ghana. They must travel with a valid passport or another travel document accepted under applicable ECOWAS travel arrangements.
Participants who are not nationals of ECOWAS countries should confirm Ghana’s visa requirements before travelling. Unless exempt, they should obtain an entry visa from a Ghanaian embassy or consulate before departure.
A visa on arrival is not automatic and generally requires prior application and approval by the Ghana Immigration Service, usually arranged through the host or sponsoring organization.
Participants should not travel on the assumption that a visa will automatically be issued at Accra International Airport.
Participants requiring a workshop invitation letter or assistance with a visa-on-arrival application should contact AUST well in advance.
Health Requirements and Medical Insurance
A valid International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis for yellow fever is required for travellers aged nine months or older entering Ghana, except where an accepted medical exemption applies.
A yellow-fever vaccination certificate becomes valid 10 days after the first vaccination. A properly documented single dose is generally valid for life.
Participants are advised to obtain a valid insurance for coverage of all medical care during their stay in Ghana
The 37 Military Hospital is a major specialist hospital located approximately four kilometres from Accra International Airport.
Local Currency and Banking
The official currency of Ghana is the Ghana cedi, with the international currency code GHS.
Foreign currencies may be exchanged at licensed banks, foreign-exchange bureaux and other authorized outlets.
Banking hours vary, but most banks operate from Monday to Friday during normal business hours. Automated Teller Machines are widely available in Accra.
Major international debit and credit cards, particularly Visa and Mastercard, are accepted at many hotels, restaurants and larger establishments. Participants should also carry some Ghana cedis for smaller transactions.
Exchange rates fluctuate. Participants should confirm the prevailing rate with a licensed bank or foreign-exchange bureau.
Electricity Supply
Ghana’s electricity supply is 220 volts, 50 Hz.
Ghana primarily uses Type G electrical sockets, with three rectangular pins, similar to those used in the United Kingdom.
Telecommunications and Internet Access
When calling Ghana from abroad, dial +233, followed by the telephone number without the initial zero.
The principal mobile network operators in Ghana are: MTN Ghana; Telecel Ghana; and AT Ghana.
Wi-Fi internet access will be available at the workshop venue.
