This technique is the teacher repeating back the same language or action given initially by the child. As a verbal action, it has the effect of giving the child a small amount of clarity and guidance to solve the problem in an independent manner on his own. For example, the child asks you, “Where is my book?” and the teacher responds, “Where is your book?” In resolving social conflict scenarios, this technique helps to keep your involvement strictly neutral and detached from the positions taken by each child in the situation.
