This heavy verbal technique is the teacher asking the child a question, such as “What are you doing?” It is most effective when you must initiate interaction with a child who is otherwise absorbed in fantasy behavior, detached from reality in the present moment. A simple question, focused on reality in the present moment, usually opens up further interaction to resolve the problem at hand.
