The technique proximity is the teacher moving physically closer or further away from a child or the location of some misbehavior scenario.  For example, if eye contact is not available, the proximity technique is normally the first physical action you take to resolve a misbehavior scenario; i.e., walking in the direction of the problem situation. In power struggle situations, you can use a type of reverse proximity by simply backing away from a child, which is sometimes necessary to control the detrimental influence of your personality.
