Recent Topics:
March, 2005 - Environment
The term "environment" has special meaning in Montessori teaching, with distinctions that are critcially important to Montessori teaching. This issue focuses on the meaning and application of this term in such expressions as "preparation of the environment" and "Montessori environemnt". Another feature analyzes "dependency on teaching", showing how to resolve the many problems associated with this issue in a practical setting with children.
May, 2005 - The Child
The May, 2005 issue features an examination of the child from the perspective of Dr. Montessori's approach of "control the environment, not the child". Lee Havis points out the distinct nature of the child as viewed by Dr. Montessori, in comparison with its conventional appearance in society. You will learn how Montessori teaching leads you to discover the child's true nature as described by Dr. Montessori; i.e., self-disciplined, orderly and in complete harmony with its environment.
This issue also reports on an IMS workshop conducted in Falls Church, VA, and examine how to distinguish between work or fantasy - to know how to interact with children in a manner consistent with laws of nature
September, 2005 - Technology
The September issue will consider Technology with is now available to fully implement Montessori teaching that leads to the emergence of the normalized child. Until 2003, this was not available, and Montessori teaching before has been uncertain and difficult at best. This issue views technology as what to do and how to do it, to follow laws of nature with children. It is vital to implement a scientific education, and its lack in the past has been a significant obstacle to progress in Montessori teaching. The technology is being prepared in new book entitled "The Technology of Montessori Teaching", which will be available in published form in the near future. |
About the Observer,
one reader wrote:
"Thanks a million for the newsletter...I was - mildly put - swept away. Although I have read about the 'normalized' child in Dr. Montessori's books, this is the first time I've seen it emphasized with such a deep passion in anything written about Montessori."
