Listed here are Montessori schools recognized by the International Montessori Society. Such recognition requires compliance with specific criteria which establishes the basis of a school's commitment to Montessori principles. These Montessori schools are presented here to acknowledge their special leadership and support for the effective application of these principles. Membership requirements are specified by the Society. Contact the Society or the school directly for more information about their specific program and enrollment procedures.
IMS Montessori School Recognition
The Society recognizes as a "Montessori school" any program for children that is committed to Montessori principles in its operation. The school first applies, and will the receive the specific written criteria and statement of compliance to verify and confirm acceptance.
Annual fee for the IMS recognition as a "Montessori school" is $10 per enrolled child, up to a maximum amount of $700 (U.S. currency) per school. This fee is reduced by the amount of fees paid to the Society during the prior 12-month period for services as such consultation, bulk mail subcription, workshop registrations, teacher educaion and group membership. The minimum annual fee is $45 (US currency). Recongnized Montessori schools recieve all the benefits of ordinary associate school membership, plus the following:
 Free bulk mailing of "Montessori News" news paper for distribution to all school parents and staff.
Listing in IMS annual Membership Directory of Montessori Schools; and at IMS web site.
Wall-size certificate of recognition for display at school.
Free IMS Montessori school membership directory.
Recognized Montessori schools support the new education by providing a local institutional focus for the Society's work and activities. The Society refers parents who inquire for a Montessori school only to those that are listed and recognized as such specifically with IMS. Montessori school members therefore have a close working relationship with the Society, which usually includes planning for local workshops, teacher eduation, consultation and other IMS services and programs supportive of Montessori Education.
Montessori schools are especially encouraged to order a bulk mail subscription to receive the IMS publications, the News and Obersver. Annual fee is $3.00 per person, minimum order 50 ($150). A further group membership program at reduced rate for parents and staff is also available.
