Character Teaching

Practical Application of Montessori Teaching to Overcome Long-standing Conditions of Poverty

Since 2002, IMS has been supporting the development of a Character Teaching (CT) project, to create new conditions in poor countries, based on laws of nature. Lee Havis, IMS executive director, says the project will train and supervise teachers to use the new IMS technology for Montessori teaching in both formal and informat situations.
Havis says the project will train teachers to work directly with poor and abandoned children, using a set of materials and procedures of time-money exchange of value. He says the formal component intends to establish a model classroom situation, which can serve as a basis for further training in Montessori teaching skills for fuller adoption by techers in their own regular schools and classrooms.
